Home at last!

Well 8 weeks on the road I am home!  What an awesome sight!

It’s always bittersweet to leave Montana every year but I have business to conduct back home and besides, if I stayed a day longer I’d be picking up aluminum cans on the roadside to pay for fuel!

Wouldn’t you know that fuel was high when I left then it went down just a tiny bit before we were to leave then back up again?  Fuel in Montana is always 15 to 25 cents more per gallon for everything than down south.  If I didn’t absolutely love living and training up there, I wouldn’t do it because of expense however, it is absolutely the right thing to do for bird dogs as they learn so much up in Montana.

This year was a bit different … as we took horses instead of my Polaris Ranger.  Horses have many benefits when running dogs but I don’t really like the falling off part. LOL  I can’t recall my Ranger ever bucking me off!  Of course horses are more eco friendly and don’t leave trails so that is a definite plus.

At the So. Kansas trial, my 9 month old pup ‘Tula’ took 1st place in the puppy stake at Kansas.  I was thrilled for her.  She is out of Nubbin’ and a gip named Sedan Roughrider that is currently owned by Pete Price.

My wife and I love that movie “My big fat Greek wedding”.  The principle character is a woman with the Greek name ‘Fortula’ which I think means light of God or something like that.  Shortened, the nickname is just ‘Tula’.  Tula’s official name is Chief’s It’s Greek to Me.  I don’t think too many people ‘got it’ when they announced her name as the winner.  I guess it will just have to be an inside joke for me and my wife Debbie.

Guess that’s it for now!  Take care and give your dog a treat for me!

Dave
